Rory [ロリー,Rorī) is the protector of Princess Elizabeth of the Kingdom of Liones. Her real name is Apostle Demigoddess of Death Rory Mercury [使徒の死の復讐ロリー・マーキュリー,Shito no shi no fukushū rorī mākyurī] for she is chosen to reap the souls of the dead and bring death to those deserving of death because of their actions towards other people. Her sacred treasure is the Death Battle-Axe Shi, which she uses in conjunction with her inherent power, Devastation.
Appearance[]
Despite being 961 years old, Rory has the appearance of a 13-year-old young girl of around twelve or thirteen as she has stopped aging when she ascended to become a living deity in mortal flesh and blood but blessed with powers no normal humans could ever hope to gain. She has long flowing black hair with a black ribbon as a hair ornament. Her clothing is a reminiscent of Earth's Gothic Lolita culture: a black dress with red frills, black stockings supported with garters and a red boots. She wields a huge purplish axe as her main weapon. In the anime, her lip color changes from pink to purple when she's about to get dangerous. Before she was chosen to be an Apostle, and during her childhood she wore a priestess trainee formal black dress.
Personality[]
Rory is a generally friendly person, but when it comes to other people harassing her princess she tends to want to go murder on them. Due to her parents dying before she even turned 3 years old she was isolated for the most part until Emory rescued her from the snowy cold of the Liones winter. He raised her in the middle of nowhere where she eventually learned her father was a demigod and her mother was a fairy making her a super hybrid. She soon found out that Elaine and King (Harlequin) are her younger cousins related to her through her mother`s side of the family. She is seen beating Meliodas up because he suggested he wanted to romantically be with Princess Elizabeth of Liones. Jealous of Meliodas who has Princess Elizabeth`s Attention she is seen asking King for advice and later Elaine blushing a bright tomato red when she does ask them about it.
During her time as Gowther and Merlin`s assistant she is seen often commenting on how Gowther is so much like a doll. Rory often clams up when people ask her if she has family members due to not wanting to interact with people. She has only shown her soft side to Princess Elizabeth of Liones, Emory her adoptive father, and her fellow Guild Mates during her time as their Guild Master before the guild she was in was attacked by Phantom Lord for being a guild aligned with Phantom Lord. She is seen crying in the Capital of the Dead Episode when it showed her dead Guild Mates. Her guild mates eventually convince her to fight and she saves the Seven Deadly Sins along the Grizzly Sin of Sloth King. She is sensitive about her height and refuses to tell people why she ages because her parents made a pact with Emory of upon their deaths Rory would be adopted by Emory becoming an Apostle of Death.
After Meliodas dies and the Ten Commandments go off to do their own thing, Rory decides to stay with Princess Elizabeth training her in the ways of a Apostle. Emory eventually agrees to help train Elizabeth and Rory becomes one of her mentors. Flashbacks to Rory`s past and her job as the Guild Master is revealed plus her pain and regret at loosing her guild mates to Phantom Lord due to not having their most powerful members there when they needed it. She is branded with the Sin Mark of a Skeleton Horse which represented her sin of Regret.
